US SHIPPING UPDATE
Important Update: Temporary Pause on US Shipments
We regret to inform our valued US customers that we are temporarily pausing shipments to the United States. Despite our products being made in Canada and our diligent efforts to include valid CUSMA (Canada-United States-Mexico Agreement) certificates with every order, some customers have been unexpectedly charged substantial customs duties and tariffs.
Most shipments are going through fine but there have been a couple issues that lead to this decision. A recent customer was charged $270 USD in customs fees on a $150 CAD order - an amount that is both unreasonable and inconsistent with CUSMA’s duty-free provisions for Canadian-made goods. This fee is even higher than the stated 35% tariff on goods not made in Canada. I personally covered that cost in good faith so my customer did not have to have to deal with that unexpected and hefty expense. However, doing so on an ongoing basis is not sustainable for my small, self-funded business, which is why I have made the difficult decision to pause US shipping at this time.
We are actively working with our shipping partners and investigating the cause of these charges, as well as seeking alternative options. The “delivered at place” (duties paid) options currently available via Canada Post are not adequate, as there is no way to indicate duty-free status, and we believe it is unjust for our customers to pay tariffs on what should be a duty-free shipment.
Until we find a feasible solution, we will not be accepting any orders destined for the United States. I apologize deeply for the inconvenience this will cause. I value every one of my customers, and not being able to ship to my US customers is devastating. Not only are you unable to order the goods you’ve come to use daily, but the longer this issue persists, the more uncertainty it adds to the future of my small business.
I sincerely appreciate your understanding and continued support. If you have any questions, or if you’d like to be notified when US shipping resumes, please reach out via our Contact Page.
