Brahmi, also known as Bacopa monnieri, is a versatile herb traditionally used in Ayurvedic medicine. It nourishes the hair follicle which can reduce hair fall. It also strengthens strands, limiting breakage and split ends.
Brassica Alcohol
Brassica alcohol is a 100% plant derived solid fatty alcohol which has hydrating, softening and protective qualities unlike drying alcohols such as ethanol or isopropyl.
This ingredient was palm free until 2021, when the manufacturer stated that due to supply chain difficulties it would be RSPO palm derived as an exception. Our hope is that it returns to palm free status soon as we are working through the last of our palm free stock.

Hyaluronic Acid
Hyaluronic acid or sodium hyaluronate is naturally occurring in our own skin tissues. It is a very powerful humectant, capable of holding up to 500 times its weight in water. It plumps and hydrates skin, decreasing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
There are a variety of molecular weights of hyaluronic acid. A super low molecular weight hyaluronic acid can penetrate into the deeper layers of skin, providing longer lasting hydration, whereas a high molecular weight works to hydrate the upper layers of the skin which offers that instant plumping effect. We use a blend of molecular weights in our skin care for optimized benefit to the skin.
Hydrolyzed Oat Protein
Low molecular weight hydrolysed proteins can penetrate within the cuticle for structural integrity and strength, reducing the risk of breakage, split ends and damage caused by environmental stressors.
Hydrolyzed Quinoa Protein

L
Lactobacillus Ferment
Lactobacillus/Bamboo Ferment Filtrate
Fermented bamboo works as a natural substitute for silicone in hair care products. It is produced by macerating bamboo stalks and leaves, followed by fermentation with Lactobacillus lactis. This fermentation process leads to the formation of bio-silicate with the silica present in bamboo, an abundant natural resource.

M
Magnesium Hydroxide
Magnesium works to kill odour causing microbes and bacteria on the surface of the skin. When used in deodorant, it slowly raises the natural pH in our armpits when we sweat to halt new bacteria growth. Due to the slow change in pH, magnesium is non irritating, especially compared to baking soda. In hair care magnesium hydroxide is gentle yet effective at deodorizing and absorbing oil, leaving your hair with a refreshed and matte finish.

Natural Fragrance Oil
Natural fragrances are complex compounds derived from natural aromatics that are extracted from plants without altering the chemical structure. They can be made from a blend of isolates, essential oils, absolutes, resins or waxes. We only use natural fragrances that are ISO 9235 Certified.
ISO 9235 defines natural aromatic raw materials as being physically obtained from plants using distillation, expression and extraction. Synthetically reconstituted essential oils, synthetic nature-identical and intentionally chemically modified natural raw materials (e.g. chemical acetylation of essential oil) cannot be used in fragrance compounds that are described as being natural.
The Natural Products Association does not permit the use of petrochemical solvents in the extraction process, therefore concentrates and absolutes made using hexane are also not permitted.

Our sacha inchi oil is sourced by Rainforest Chica and wild harvested in Peru. All of Rainforest Chica's products are made from non-timber forest products, are wild harvested or ethically farmed, fair trade, sustainable and help to support local communities with a constant focus on sustainability and fair treatment of harvester, farmers, transporters and producers.
Saponified Castor Oil
Sodium castorate is the result of reacting castor oil with sodium hydroxide. This process is called saponification and is the traditional method of soap making. There is no sodium hydroxide (lye) left in the bar once this process is complete.
All soap is made by reacting oils/fats with an alkaline solution. Melt & pour soap base is also made using this process. Various cleansers can absolutely be made utilizing surfactants/detergents, but a true "soap" is made via the saponification process described above.
Saponified Coconut Oil
Sodium cocoate is the result of reacting coconut oil with sodium hydroxide and water. This process is called saponification and is the traditional method of soap making. There is no sodium hydroxide (lye) left in the bar once this process is complete.

Shea Butter
Shea butter is fat that's been extracted from shea tree nuts. Shea Butter is hailed for its skin protecting and emollient properties. It has high amounts of unsaponifiable matters, Vitamin E and other natural elements and is a perfect natural moisturizing agent for the skin. It penetrates deeply and leaves a smooth, satiny finish. In hair care it can increase shine and reduce frizz. It can also help protect from heat damage caused by styling.
We use organic, fair trade shea butter from Baraka Impact (Duncan, BC) that is sustainably harvested and handmade in Ghana by local women. The heat required to process the butter is supplied by burning leftover shea nut solids, producing a circular energy loop, rather than cutting down trees to burn for fuel (which is the norm for most shea production sites).
Soap Bark + Soapwort Extracts
Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate
A mild, naturally derived cleansing ingredient based on renewable coconut fatty acids but also usually has components that are derived from palm. At this time, we source this from a supplier in Canada who states it is palm oil free. In the interest of full transparency, we are not satisfied with a statement and are awaiting confirmation of the complete raw material sourcing.
We continue to search for a supplier that can provide solid evidence of the absence of palm derivatives in this ingredient and are considering the use of an RSPO certified option to ensure we are using the most sustainable ingredients possible. It is also important that we keep our ingredients sourced from suppliers/distributors within Canada whenever possible.
Sodium Lactate
Sodium Lauryl Sulfoacetate
A naturally derived, gentle surfactant based on coconut and RSPO Certified palm fatty acids that provides bountiful foam, especially ideal in bubble bath formulations. Despite the similarities in the name, this is a completely different ingredient from Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS).
Sodium Methyl Cocoyl Taurate
A surfactant that is efficient in hard water, gentle on the skin/hair and readily biodegradable. It is often used in salon quality hair cleansing products as it has a dense lather profile, able to evenly coat the large surface area of hair strands.
Unfortunately we have been informed that the powdered version has been discontinued and we are unable to source it. We are working to find a suitable palm free, naturally derived alternative but it is proving to be difficult.

Squalane
Squalane is a lightweight emollient that is readily used by the skin due to its likeness to squalene, a natural component of our skin's sebum. It locks in moisture, firms, increases elasticity and protects the skin's moisture barrier.
The squalane we use is sustainably sourced by upcycling waste-streams from olive production. Olive Squalane reduces the overall carbon-footprint of the olive industry.
