Ingredient List

This is a complete list of the ingredients we use.  We are certified palm free on the brand level and as such, each ingredient has been assessed and found to be absent of palm oil and derivatives.

A

Abyssinian Seed Oil

Abyssinian oil moisturizes the skin without feeling oily, balancing uneven skin tone and texture. Rapid absorption makes it suitable for normal to oily skin types.  The fatty acid profile of this oil also makes it incredible in haircare by imparting shine, offering deep nourishment and smoothing the hair shaft.  Our abyssinian oil is cold pressed and produced in Canada. 

Fatty Acid profile:  Erucic Acid (50-65%), Oleic Acid (10-25%), Linoleic Acid (7-15%)

Activated Charcoal

The activated charcoal we use is made from wild-harvested coconut shells.  It is known to bind to impurities, deeply cleanse pores and purify the skin.  In hair care, it cleanses and absorbs excess oils without removing the naturally occurring essential hair oils.

Algin

Algin, or sodium alginate is derived from brown seaweed.  It creates a soft gel that helps to soften, hydrate & soothe skin leaving it silky and smooth.

Allantoin

Allantoin is a constituent found in most living things and is most commonly extracted from comfrey root.  It also helps to soften, increase elasticity and moisturize the hair shaft.  In skin care it helps to soften, soothe, repair and replenish.  In vivo studies confirm that allantoin has a moisturizing, keratolytic and soothing effect, while enhancing skin repair.

Aloe Extract

Aloe vera extract is derived from the gel of the aloe vera plant.  Renowned for its soothing and healing properties, this natural ingredient helps reduce redness, inflammation and irritation, providing relief for sensitive or stressed skin.

Amla Oil

Amla Oil is a cold-pressed oil derived from the Indian gooseberry fruit.  It is high in vitamin C and other antioxidants. A popular hair oil in ayurvedic practices, amla oil strengthens and conditions the hair strand. Ayurvedic practitioners also believe that amla oil can promote hair growth, reduce dandruff, and prevent the graying of hair.

Annatto Seed

Seeds of the achiote tree, annatto provides conditioning effects to the skin and hair.

Aqua

If we include water in our formulations, it is demineralized & distilled.

Argan Oil

Cold pressed from the kernels of the argan tree.  Argan oil is commonly used in hair care products to enhance hair health and hydration and is often referred to as "liquid gold" by the people of Morocco.  

Arrowroot Powder

This fine, silky powder absorbs oil and helps to soothe skin & scalp.

B

Babassu Seed Oil

Babassu seed oil is a tropical oil pressed from the seeds of the babassu tree.  It is solid at room temperature and melts on contact with skin.  It is fast absorbing and non-comedogenic making it suitable for skin prone to breakouts.

Baking Soda

Baking soda can be added to a bath to help soften the water and provide cleansing benefits.  In skin or hair care it may be used to alter the pH of the product.

Bakuchiol

Bakuchiol is often described as the natural alternative to retinol.  We use Sytenol® A, which is Bakuchiol extracted from seeds of the babchi plant at 99% purity.  It is a powerful antioxidant that has been clinically proven to visibly reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Unlike retinol or babchi seed extract, this gentle ingredient is not photosensitive and may applied any time of day.  It also can be used on all types of skin: dry, oily or sensitive.

Pronunciation: Bah-koo-chee-all

Banana Fruit Extract

Bananas are rich in vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, including vitamin C, potassium, and B-vitamins. These nutrients help contribute to the overall health and vitality of the skin.

Beetroot Extract

Beetroot extract contains the phytochemical compounds ascorbic acid, carotenoid, phenolic acid and flavonoids which provide antioxidant benefits.

Behentrimonium Methosulfate

Behentrimonium methosulfate (BTMS) is derived from the colza plant, which is part of the brassica (cabbage) family.  BTMS is one of the most effective naturally-derived conditioning agents for hair and skin.  It carries a positive charge and helps reduce static while smoothing the hair cuticle, leaving it soft and manageable.  Despite the name, it is completely sulfate-free.

Bentonite Clay

Bentonite clay contains many minerals that are beneficial for skin and hair.  It helps absorb sebum and deep cleanse pores.  In hair care it has the ability to remove conditioners and products that can build up on the hair and scalp. It softens, conditions, reduces frizz and encourages curl definition.  Some may experience a warming sensation when using clays topically.

Benzoin Resin

Benzoin resin is a sweet smelling sap from the Styrax benzoin tree.  We use it to add a natural sugary, warm aroma to our products.

Bergamot Essential Oil

Cold pressed from the peel of the bergamot fruit.  We use the bergaptene free version to remove the risk of phototoxicity.

Betaine

Our betaine is upcycled from the molasses industry, an amino acid derivative with a strong water binding capacity. This helps reduce frizz by keeping the hair shaft well hydrated and imparts anti-static and conditioning properties.  In skincare, betaine moisturizes and reduces transepidermal water loss (TEWL).

Bitter Almond Oil

Commonly known as bitter almond oil, benzaldehyde is a wonderful aromatic compound that has a beautiful almond and slight cherry scent that many say reminds them of marzipan.  Our benzaldehyde is safe for use in soap and skin care products as it has had the prussic acid removed.

Blue Tansy Oil

Blue tansy oil is steam distilled from the leaves and flowers of the true moroccan chamomile plant.  The deep blue colour comes from the presence of chamazulene, a powerful antioxidant.  Its delightful scent is all at once fruity, floral, sweet, herbaceous and camphorescent. 

Blueberry Fruit Extract

An extract of the lowbush blueberry, blueberry extract is rich in antioxidants including Vitamins A and C.  It provides natural protective and rejuvenating benefits for skin and hair.  Blueberries are packed with powerful antioxidants, helping to improve the appearance of free radical damage caused by sun exposure or pollutants, revitalizing the appearance of skin and hair.

Blueberry Seed Oil

One of our favourite oils!  Blueberry seed oil is pressed from seeds left-over from the food industry, mainly from jam/jelly processing.  It has a light berry scent and a blue-green colour.  It is highly nutritive and full of antioxidants making it incredible for skin care.

Brahmi Powder

Brahmi, also known as Bacopa monnieri, is a versatile herb traditionally used in Ayurvedic medicine. It nourishes the hair follicle which can reduce hair fall. It also strengthens strands, limiting breakage and split ends.

Brassica Alcohol

Brassica alcohol is a 100% plant derived solid fatty alcohol which has hydrating, softening and protective qualities unlike drying alcohols such as ethanol or isopropyl.

Brassica campestris/Aleurites fordi Oil Copolymer

This polymer is biodegradable, COSMOS-approved, made from sustainable tung (China wood) and colza oil that strengthens hair, helps prevent breakage, improves shine and works to repair heat stressed and frizzy hair.

Brazil Nut Oil

Brazil nut oil is cold pressed from the seeds of the brazil nut tree, one of the most important Amazonian trees.  It has powerful anti-oxidants making it great for combating the signs of aging and regenerating dry skin.  It is also incredible for conditioning dry, damaged hair, inhibiting split ends and increasing shine & comb-ability.  It has a nice, light nutty scent.  Our Brazil nut oil is wild harvested in the Amazon Rainforest.  It is fair trade, sustainable and helps to support local communities.

Broccoli Seed Oil

We use broccoli seed oil as a natural alternative to silicone in hair care.

C

C13-15 Alkane

C13-15 alkane is sourced from sugarcane and is ECOCERT approved.  It is a silky, lightweight emollient that is a sustainable alternative to silicones.

Calendula Extract

Calendula is a herb well known for its soothing and calming effects on the skin.  We use a super concentrated organic paste in our formulations.

Candelilla Wax

Candelilla wax provides similar properties to beeswax, such as emollient and protective qualities, helping to lock in moisture and creating a barrier on the skin making it a great vegan alternative. It contributes to the firmness and texture of cosmetic products.

Castor Seed Oil

Castor seed oil is expeller pressed from the seeds of the castor plant.  It is quite viscous, making it great for protecting skin and hair.  It also has antibacterial properties that encourage healthy scalp and hair follicles, creating the perfect environment to grow stronger hair.

Cedarwood Essential Oil

Cedarwood essential oil is steam distilled from the wood of the red cedar tree.

Citric Acid

Citric acid is made by fermenting starches.  It is generally used in natural products as a pH modifier.

Clary Sage Essential Oil

Clary sage essential oil is steam distilled from the fresh flowers of the plant.  It has many benefits including cleansing and rejuvenating skin and hair.

Cocoa Powder

We use organic cacao powder as a natural and aromatic colourant in our products.

Cocoa Seed Butter

Made from the cacao bean, this popular butter has the ability to moisturize, nourish and improve elasticity of skin and hair.

Coconut Fruit Powder

This is the dehydrated form of milk made from the meat of coconuts.  It is high in fatty acid content, vitamins and antioxidants.

Coconut Oil

Coconut oil is packed full of antioxidants, moisturizes and soothes skin.  It is a very nourishing hair oil and is one of the only oils that has the ability to penetrate the hair strand.

Copaiba Resin Oil

This pure resin is sustainably extracted from the trunk of the copaiba tree and is different from the essential oil which is generally steam distilled from the resin itself. Copaiba resin oil is widely used in traditional medicine.  It can be very beneficial for acne-prone skin, reducing inflammation and redness.  It also has anti-aging properties and improves skin elasticity, leaving it with a firm and youthful appearance.

Cucumber Fruit Extract

Cucumber Extract is a whole fruit extract that provides a moisturizing, soothing feel on the skin.  It also acts as a skin toner to revitalize stressed and tired skin, leaving it refreshed and radiant looking.

Cucumber Peel Extract

Cucumber peel extract makes a wonderful addition to skin-care products for its cooling and skin-tightening properties.  Cucumber is rich in vitamins and minerals that are essential for a healthy looking skin. Cucumber Peel Extract can be used to keep the facial skin feeling soft and smooth. It also acts as a skin toner to revitalize stressed and tired skin, leaving it refreshed and radiant looking.

Cucumber Seed Oil

Cucumber seed oil is cold-pressed from the seeds of the cucumber fruit.  We source ours from a manufacturer who presses the oil from seeds left-over from the food industry so nothing is wasted.  Virgin cucumber seed oil has a light fresh scent and has remarkable benefits to skin and hair.

Cupuacu Butter

Cupuacu is in the same family as cocoa.  Cupuacu butter is native to Brazil, and is extracted by cold pressing the seeds of the Cupuacu tree.  Cupuacu butter contains plant sterols, studies have shown that phytosterols help to promote the elasticity and suppleness of the skin.

D

Decyl Glucoside

A mild, natural surfactant composed of glucose derived from corn starch and fatty alcohols derived from coconuts.  This ingredient is mainly made with a blend of coconut oil and palm oil, however we source ours palm free from a trusted manufacturer.

DL-Panthenol

Otherwise known as (Pro) Vitamin B5, it acts as a powerful humectant and helps to moisturize dull skin and hair.  It can increase hair's elasticity, impart beautiful shine and protect from heat, styling and the elements.  Its hydrating qualities can help repair dry, damaged skin.  Ours is a nature identical grade B5 as it is generally not vegan when naturally sourced.

Eucalyptus Essential Oil

Steam distilled from the leaves of the eucalyptus tree.

F

Fenugreek Seed Extract

Fenugreek seed extract is a good source of protein which makes it a wonderful herb for strengthening hair and slowing hair loss. The seeds also aid in moisturizing the hair, restoring lustre and shine.

Fragrance Oil

Our fragrance oil is sourced from a luxury fragrance house.  It is phthalate, paraben and mutagen free and contains some natural aromatic compounds including essential oils.

French Pink Clay

French pink clay works on stressed and tired skin and makes it look fresh and hydrated. Naturally enriched with minerals and trace elements, it absorbs and removes impurities from the skin, revealing the fresh surface of the skin to provide a healthy-looking glow. French pink clay is considered to be the mildest clay and works well for normal, sensitive and mature skin types.

Fruit Acid Blend

This blend of fruit extracts work to brighten skin by exfoliation, revealing a rejuvenated complexion. It is a blend of Lactic Acid (from Bilberry), Glycolic Acid (from Sugar Cane), Citric Acid (from Orange and Lemon), and Malic and Tartaric Acids (from Sugar Maple)

Glycerin

Vegetable glycerin, one of the most prevalent humectants in the personal care industry is widely utilized for its exceptional moisture-retaining properties. While vegetable glycerin is typically derived from palm sources, it's important to note that we exclusively source palm-free ingredients from reputable suppliers.

Green Tea Leaf Powder

Green tea is a rich source of antioxidants such as Vitamin C and Vitamin E and is packed full of skin beneficial properties. It is said to help reduce the signs of aging and reduce the appearance of age spots caused by environmental factors.  The natural caffeine content helps to energize and revitalize the skin.

Green Tea Seed Oil

Green tea seed oil is renowned for its rich composition of nourishing fatty acids, with a notable abundance of oleic acid, an omega-9 acid recognized for its cleansing properties. It also contains potential antioxidant and antibacterial properties, which serve to safeguard the skin from environmental stressors and damaging factors.

Hemp Seed Oil

We use Canadian produced, cold pressed hemp seed oil.  Due to the high content of proteins and essential fatty acids, it is great at nourishing skin & hair and can help improve issues with skin/scalp.

Heptyl Undecylenate

Heptyl undecylenate is a natural, plant based, COSMOS and ECOCERT approved palm-free ingredient made from castor oil.  We use it as a sustainable alternative to silicones.

Hyaluronic Acid

Hyaluronic acid or sodium hyaluronate is naturally occurring in our own skin tissues.  It is the most powerful moisturizer and humectant available, capable of holding up to 500 times its weight in water. It plumps the skin, offering deep hydration and thereby decreasing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Hydrolyzed Oat Protein

Low molecular weight hydrolysed proteins can penetrate within the cuticle for structural integrity and strength, reducing the risk of breakage, split ends and damage caused by environmental stressors.

Hydrolyzed Quinoa Protein

Hydrolyzed quinoa is used for hair color retention, conditioning, protection and increased body & shine.  It restores hydration to the cuticle of the hair due to its high amino acid content.  In skincare it provides skin softening, hydration and emolliency.

Hydrolyzed Rice Protein

Low molecular weight hydrolyzed proteins can penetrate within the cuticle for structural integrity and strength. Studies have shown that Hydrolyzed Rice Protein can increase total hair volume by up to 32%.

K

Kaolin Clay

A mild clay used to control sebum and draw out impurities. It contains beneficial minerals such as selenium and zinc. Some may experience a warming sensation when using clays topically.

Kokum Seed Butter

Kokum seed butter comes from the kokum tree, a plant in the mangosteen family.  It is a non-greasy and highly nourishing butter that helps condition, improve slip and boosts shine in hair.  In skin care it can help diminish signs of aging while moisturizing and softening skin.

Lactobacillus Ferment

This versatile ingredient not only supplies the skin with beneficial bacteria which helps to support a healthy skin microbiome, but also acts as a natural preservative in our formulations.

Lactobacillus/Bamboo Ferment Filtrate

Fermented bamboo works as a natural substitute for silicone in hair care products. It is produced by macerating bamboo stalks and leaves, followed by fermentation with Lactobacillus lactis. This fermentation process leads to the formation of bio-silicate with the silica present in bamboo, an abundant natural resource.

Lavender Essential oil

Lavender essential oil is made by steam distilling the flowering tops of the Lavandula angustifolia plant.  It is highly aromatic and often used in aromatherapy as a relaxant.

Lavender Flowers

Flower petals from the Lavandula angustifolia plant.  Relaxing lavender scent.  When finely ground and used in skin care they can provide a gentle exfoliation.

Lemon Essential Oil

Lemon essential oil is cold pressed from the fruit rind and has an uplifting scent.  Perfect for use in cleaning products.

Lime Essential Oil

Lime essential oil is produced through steam distillation of the fruit rinds.

M

Macadamia Oil

Macadamia Oil is a fantastic replenishing oil for the skin's moisture barrier. It is high in mono-unsaturated fatty acids, contains palmitoleic acid (promotes younger looking skin), as well as omega 3 and omega 6 fatty acids. It has been known to soothe, cool and revitalize the look of the skin.

Magnesium Hydroxide

Magnesium works to kill odour causing microbes and bacteria on the surface of the skin. When used in deodorant, it slowly raises the natural pH in our armpits when we sweat to halt new bacteria growth. Due to the slow change in pH, magnesium is non irritating, especially compared to baking soda.  In hair care magnesium hydroxide is gentle yet effective at deodorizing and absorbing oil, leaving your hair with a refreshed and matte finish.

Maltodextrin

Maltodextrin is a sugar made from starch extracted from vegetables such as tapioca, rice, corn or potato. It is used as a moisturizer, film former and stabilizer.

Mango Seed Butter

Mango butter is pressed from the seeds of the mango fruit. It is known to be rich in antioxidants and emollients as well as Vitamins A and E, and can be used to soften and moisturize rough, dry skin. It is a fast absorbing butter and doesn't leave an oily after feel when used in skin and hair care products.

Maracuja Seed Oil

Maracuja is more commonly known as passion fruit. Rich in linoleic acid, Passion Fruit Oil provides a vital building block for ceramides, essential for maintaining skin's moisture balance and hydration levels.

Matcha Powder

Matcha comes from green tea and is loaded with vitamins and minerals, including vitamins E and panthenol which contribute to hair strength and flexibility. It also contains the powerful polyphenol EGCG.

Meadowfoam Seed Oil

Meadowfoam seed oil is pressed from the seeds of the meadowfoam flower.  The name Meadowfoam is derived from the typical white blooming of plants which give the image of white foam covering the soil.  It is a deeply penetrating oil and can help increase absorption of companion ingredients into the skin.  It is non-comedogenic and helps to balance sebum production making it great for all skin types.  Our source is produced in Canada.

Mica

Mica is a mineral colourant that can be mined unethically using child labour.  We choose to source ours from a trusted Canadian supplier that guarantees all of their micas are 100% ethically sourced.

Mineral Colourants

In order to achieve rich colours in formulation, sometimes a blend of mineral colourants are needed.  We only use mineral colours that are safe for use in lip, eye and body areas to ensure that they are gentle.  We choose to source them from a trusted Canadian supplier that guarantees all of their mineral colourants are 100% ethically sourced.

Moringa Leaf Powder

Moringa leaf is a superfood for skin, containing many essential nutrients including Vitamins A & C.  The moringa tree is often referred to as the "miracle tree" due to all of its parts having benefit to humans and animals.

Moringa Seed Oil

Moringa seed oil is cold-pressed from the seeds of the moringa tree. This seed oil is rich in moisture as well as vitamins B + C and is known to nourish, condition, and exfoliate the skin. Its emollience promotes easy spreadability on the skin and the hair, leaving it looking and feeling softer, smoother and more lustrous. The oil's nutritive qualities help to strengthen hair, leaving it less prone to breakage.

Natural Fragrance Oil

Natural fragrance oils are complex compounds derived from natural aromatics that are extracted from plants without altering the chemical structure.  They can be made from a blend of isolates, essential oils, absolutes, resins or waxes.  We only use natural fragrances that are ISO 9235 Certified.

Neem Oil

Neem oil is pressed from the fruit and seeds of the neem tree and is highly anti-bacterial/anti-fungal.

Niacinamide

Niacinamide, otherwise knows as Vitamin B3 is an incredible ingredient for achieving healthy looking skin. It tightens pores, promotes clear skin, evens out skin tone, protects against transepidermal water loss (TEWL) and decreases the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Niaouli Essential Oil

Niaouli essential oil is steam distilled from the leaves and young twigs of the niaouli tree.  It has a sweet, fresh, camphoraceous scent.

Oat Kernel Flour

Colloidal oats are cosmetic grade finely ground oats.  Used for skin calming, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.

Olive Leaf Extract

Olive leaf extract is known to contain nearly 100 phytochemicals and essential nutrients.  It can slow the appearance of aging, hydrate, repair, purify and nourish the skin. Olive leaf extract also works to protect your skin against harsh weather conditions, environmental stressors and pollutants. In haircare, olive leaf extract provides shine and moisture boost and works to smooth hair strands.

Orange Fruit Extract

Orange fruit extract is rich in vitamin C, adding protective qualities to the skin and promoting collagen production. It imparts emollient and shine benefits to hair.

Peppermint Essential Oil

Peppermint essential oil is steam distilled from the leaves and flowering tops of the herb. It has an uplifting scent and cooling sensation.

Pequi Fruit Oil

Pequi fruit oil is high in carotene and lycopene.  This oil works wonders on defining curls, restores damaged hair and imparts lubricity and shine.  This oil contains a wonderful profile of antioxidants and works to fight signs of skin aging, increases skin elasticity, leaving your skin feeling firmer.  We use an unrefined, wild-crafted and fair trade source of pequi fruit oil.

Pink Himalayan Salt

Pink himalayan salt is a minimally processed crystal, packed with minerals. A great addition to bath water to help soothe tired muscles.

Pomegranate Seed Oil

A luxurious and deeply penetrating oil from the seeds of the pomegranate fruit. It is remarkable for the skin and has numerous nutritional benefits. It is also one of the only plant sources of CLA (conjugated linoleic acid) and is a great oil for dry irritated skin. This oil is non-comedogenic, suitable for all skin types and has a light fruity scent.

Potassium Bitartrate

Potassium Bitartrate or cream of tartar is a perfect addition to a bath product as it makes the water silky soft.  It is also high in potassium, great for tired muscles.

Potassium Sorbate

Potassium sorbate acts as a secondary preservative in our water containing formulas.

Pracaxi Seed Oil

Pracaxi seed oil is pressed from the seeds of the pracaxi tree.  In hair care it can repair dry, damaged hair and imparts anti-static and shine properties.  In skin care it can even skin tone and help reduce the appearance of stretch marks.

Propanediol

Propanediol is a humectant derived from corn sugar which increases absorbability of other ingredients into the skin. It has a silky emollient feel and contributes to a smooth skin texture.

Pumpkin Seed Oil

Up-cycled from the food industry it boasts a rich nutritional profile, containing phytosterols, zinc, and a blend of Omega-3, 6 and 9 fatty acids. The combination of fatty acids helps to nourish and hydrate the skin, leaving it soft, supple, and revitalized. Phytosterols aid in maintaining skin barrier function and reducing inflammation.

Raspberry Seed Oil

Raspberry seed oil helps promote the skin's moisture barrier, keeping skin firm and hydrated.  It is also beneficial for reducing redness and soothing dry, irritated skin.  It is thought to have SPF properties although this has not yet been confirmed and should not be utilized as the only line of defence against UV rays.

Rice Bran Oil

Rice Bran Oil is an excellent oil for skin barrier repair, antioxidant protection and can help even out skin tone. Its versatile benefits make it a valuable ingredient in products aimed at enhancing skin texture, tone, and overall appearance.

Rice Powder

A fine powder made from misshapen white rice which creates a silky, gentle cleansing agent.  We purchase this as an up-cycled ingredient, reducing food industry waste.

Roman Chamomile Essential Oil

Roman chamomile essential oil is steam distilled from the fragrant flower head. It has a warm, fruity herbaceous scent that is very soothing to the senses.

Rosehip Oil

Rosehip is often referred to as the "oil of youth". It is extremely high in essential fatty acids which aids in the treatment of dry, irritated, weathered skin.

Rosemary Essential Oil

Rosemary essential oil is steam distilled from the branches, leaves and flowers of the herb.  It is a strong antioxidant that is very effective in hair care products for fighting dandruff and stimulating circulation to the scalp.

Sacha Inchi Oil

Sacha inchi oil is pressed from the seeds of the Sacha inchi plant and was a superfood of the ancient Incas. High in omega 3 & omega 6 fatty acids and rich in vitamins A & E, this oil is ideal for protecting the moisture barrier and moisturizing dry skin. It is also great at balancing sebum production.

Saponified Castor Oil

Sodium castorate is the result of reacting castor oil with sodium hydroxide and water.  This process is called saponification and is the traditional method of soap making.  There is no sodium hydroxide (lye) left in the bar once this process is complete.  All soap is made by reacting oil + lye.  Unfortunately some folks say that they make soap without using lye which is impossible.  Melt & pour soap base is also made using this process. Various cleansers can absolutely be made utilizing surfactants/detergents, but a true "soap" is made via the saponification process described above.

Saponified Coconut Oil

Sodium cocoate is the result of reacting coconut oil with sodium hydroxide and water.  This process is called saponification and is the traditional method of soap making.  There is no sodium hydroxide (lye) left in the bar once this process is complete.  All soap is made by reacting oil + lye.  Unfortunately some folks say that they make soap without using lye which is impossible.  Melt & pour soap base is also made using this process. Various cleansers can absolutely be made utilizing surfactants/detergents, but a true "soap" is made via the saponification process described above.

Saponified Olive Oil

Sodium olivate is the result of reacting olive oil with sodium hydroxide and water.  This process is called saponification and is the traditional method of soap making  There is no sodium hydroxide (lye) left in the bar once this process is complete. All soap is made by reacting oil + lye.  Unfortunately some folks say that they make soap without using lye which is impossible.  Melt & pour soap base is also made using this process.

Seabuckthorn Fruit Extract

Seabuckthorn berry is packed full of nutrients including vitamin C, B and lycopene.  In skincare it helps to promote hydration, collagen production and balances sebum.

Seabuckthorn Fruit Oil

 Seabuckthorn fruit is a bright orange berry packed with powerful antioxidants, such as vitamin C and E.  The oil can help combat free radicals and promote healthy-looking skin. 

Seaweed Powder

Seaweed powder is a rich source of vitamins including vitamins B12, vitamin E, amino acids, minerals, trace elements, and other nutrients. Seaweed powder makes for an effective cleansing and exfoliating agent. When applied to the skin, Seaweed act as a powerful purifier that draws out impurities while imparting benefits to the skin. It helps to slough off dead skin cells from the surface of the skin which gives a healthy, revitalized, and glowing appearance. Seaweed contains fatty acids, which makes it suitable for use on irritated skin as it will help retain skin's moisture levels, and alleviate chapping, cracking and roughness caused by dryness of the skin. It can also be used on oily and acne-prone skin. Seaweed powder is suitable for all skin types.

Shea Butter

Shea butter is fat that's been extracted from shea tree nuts.  Shea Butter is hailed for its skin protecting and emollient properties. It has high amounts of unsaponifiable matters, Vitamin E and other natural elements and is a perfect natural moisturizing agent for the skin. It penetrates deeply and leaves a smooth, satiny finish.  In hair care it can increase shine and reduce frizz. It can also help protect from heat damage caused by styling.

Soap Bark + Soapwort Extracts

These ingredients are high in saponins, a natural foam-forming constituent in plants.  They are key functional ingredients in our gel-to-milk formulas.

Sodium Lactate

Sodium lactate is made by fermentation of a sugar generally sourced from sugar beets or corn and is an excellent humectant.

Sodium Methyl Cocoyl Taurate

A surfactant that is efficient in hard water, gentle on the skin/hair and readily biodegradable.  It is often used in salon quality hair cleansing products as it has a dense lather profile and spreadability able to evenly coat the large surface area of hair strands.  We source this ingredient palm free from a manufacturer committed to transparency and sustainability.

Sorbitol

We use cosmetic grade, gluten-free sorbitol derived from sugar.  It acts as a humectant to offer skin softening and conditioning effects.  It helps to prevent moisture loss from the skin and acts as a hydrating ingredient.  It can also function as a prebiotic, supporting probiotics to encourage a healthy skin microbiome.

Spearmint Leaf

We use finely ground and sifted spearmint leaf as a natural and aromatic gentle exfoliant in our handcrafted soap.

Spirulina Powder

Spirulina is a superfood that has numerous benefits to the skin and hair.  This highly nutritive algae helps fight free radicals, cleanses and detoxifies the skin leading to less breakouts.  It also increases elasticity and strengthens skin and hair.

Squalane

The squalane we use is olive derived.  Squalane is a lightweight emollient that is readily used by the skin due to its likeness to squalene, a natural component of our skin's sebum. It locks in moisture, firms, increases elasticity and protects the skin's moisture barrier.

Strawberry Extract

Strawberry extract is used to soothe skin, offer protection from the elements and minimize the appearance of pores.

Sucrose

Derived from organic sugar cane, we use this ingredient for its capability to support healthy skin hydration, especially in our powdered/waterless formulas.

Sunflower Seed Oil

Sunflower seed oil is versatile, fast absorbing and non-comedogenic.  It is non-irritating and typically safe for all skin types.

Sweet Almond Oil

ts lightweight texture ensures easy absorption into the skin, providing deep moisturization and hydration without leaving a greasy residue.

Sweet Orange Essential Oil

Cold pressed from the orange fruit rinds.  This oil is up-cycled using byproducts of the juice industry.

Tapioca Starch

Tapioca is a starch extracted from the cassava root.  It helps to absorb sebum and is a natural alternative to talc powder.

Tea Tree Essential Oil

Tea tree essential oil is steam distilled from the leaves and stems of the tea tree and has highly antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties.

Tocopherol

Vitamin E is an excellent antioxidant, we use it to slow the oxidation of plant oils in our formulations.

Tucuma Seed Butter

Tucuma butter is cold-pressed from the seeds of the tucuma fruit.  It is a wonderful natural silicone alternative with excellent emollient and skin-softening properties. Tucuma butter is also rich in vitamin A making it a great antioxidant.

Turmeric Root Extract

Turmeric's skin-brightening effects can help reduce the appearance of dark spots, blemishes, and hyperpigmentation, revealing a more luminous and even-toned complexion.

Vanilla Fruit Oil

The warm, comforting scent of vanilla in this oil is extracted through enfleurage, an age old technique.  The vanilla bean is soaked in fats to absorb the aromatic oils and then soaked in alcohol. The aromatic oils migrate to the alcohol, then the alcohol is evaporated leaving only the aromatic oil behind.

Vanilla Fruit Powder

We use finely ground vanilla bean in our products for aesthetic and aromatic purposes.

Vegan Keratin

The combination of quinoa, lentil, and chickpea peptides in an apricot oil base provides a plant-based, non-GMO, gluten-free functional equivalent to hydrolyzed keratin.  It effectively increases hair hydration and smooths hair to reduce frizz.

Vitamin C

Vitamin C is a potent antioxidant that helps to visibly brighten skin, even skin tone, protect against pollution, reduce inflammation and promote collagen production.

Watermelon Extract

Watermelon is a hydrating and nutritive ingredient packed with vitamins A, C, B, amino acids and lycopene.

Watermelon Seed Oil

The rich composition of essential fatty acids contained in watermelon seed oil helps to restore elasticity to the skin. It is wonderful for all skin types including dry, oily, acne-prone or maturing skin. Watermelon Seed Oil is also perfect for hair care as it is non-greasy yet highly moisturizing.  We source it as a zero-waste oil, pressed from seeds leftover from the food industry.

White Willow Bark Extract

A great source of salicylic acid, white willow bark works as a natural exfoliant to remove dry skin cells from skin and scalp.  It also works as an astringent and helps control excess sebum.
