They work by depositing a purple hue to the hair. Purple is on the opposite end of the colour spectrum from yellow, which neutralizes the yellow tone.
How often can purple shampoo and conditioner be used?
That depends on how brassy your hair is. When your hair is showing brassy/yellow tones, you will want to use a purple shampoo and conditioner combo 1-3x per week to optimize toning effects until the desired colour is reached, then switch back to your regular shampoo until the brass returns (insert sad trombone sound here). Using it more often than needed could cause undesirable tones in your hair. Our purple shampoo and conditioner bars will not dry out your hair and can be used as often as needed.
Do purple shampoo and conditioners work on brunette hair?
Yes, it will tone out any excess yellow and leave your highlights looking fresh and bright!
If your shampoo and conditioner bars are naturally derived, how do you get such a vibrant purple colour naturally?
We generally like to create colours using herbs and other plant materials, but to get vibrant colours such as the one in our Let's Get Toned purple shampoo and conditioner bars, we use mica sourced from an ethical producer. Micas are a blend of minerals that are combined to create natural pigments. It is important that we source our micas from a trusted ethical source as they are often mined in unethical labour conditions.
How long do your purple shampoo and conditioner bars last?
Our bars are designed to last approximately 50 washes which is the equivalent of up to 3 regular sized plastic bottles. They are made without water so they have a very long shelf life if you are not needing to tone often. We recommend that anyone with grey or blonde hair keep a purple shampoo and conditioner on hand to use whenever the colour is in need of a refresh. This will help to keep your locks looking their very best, especially between salon visits!
